Transportation in Jabalpur

Jabalpur is said to be one of the major cities in the state of Madhya Pradesh in India. The city is well connected with metropolitan cities via road, air and railways. Railways in Jabalpur

Jabalpur is headquarter for West Central Railway Zone. There are a number of direct trains from Jabalpur to other parts of India. The railway station is easily reachable and frequent trains are running to Bhopal, Satna and Varanasi. 

Jabalpur Junction (JBP) is said to be the Central railway junction station of Jabalpur City. It is considered to be the busiest railway station and is also called Jabalpur main station. Jabalpur railway station is on Broad Gauge line and acts as a terminus for narrow gauge line.

There are 7 railway platforms which are not only well maintained, moreover they have all facilities to meet every passengers requirement. Air Connectivity to Jabalpur

Dumna Airport or Jabalpur Airport is 25 kms towards the east of the city. There are regular flights to Dumna airport which connect from all major Indian cities. It is the sole air connection for both Mahakaushal region as well as for eastern Madhya Pradesh. 

About 15-20 districts use Dumna Airport for travelling to different cities. The flights from Delhi and Gwalior are available from time to time on daily basis. Kingfisher Airlines runs flights to Jabalpur-Indore and even Jabalpur-Delhi. Indian Airlines too runs via Delhi-Gwalior-Jabalpur flights almost four days a week. The two main flight operators in Jabalpur are Air India and Spice Jet. 

Tourists travelling to Jabalpur by air would be delighted to visit the beautiful Pench National Park, Kanha National Park, Bhedaghat, Khajuraho and Bandhavgarh National Park. The Airport Authority of India is planning for an expansion project which would include extension of the runway, parking and new terminal.

Road Network in Jabalpur

There are three National Highways connected to the city, namely NH-7 (Varanasi-Kanyakumari), NH-12 (Jabalpur-Jaipur), NH-12A (Simga-Chattisgarh) and NH-26 near Jhansi. There is national highway 7 which is also the longest highway in India and it connects Jabalpur to Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh.

Tourists can also choose to travel by road as it is a very convenient option taken into consideration the widespread road network which links Nagpur, Bangalore, Bhopal, Raipur, Hyderabad, Varanasi and Allahabad. National highway 12 is another road linking the city with Bhopal and Jaipur.
